"Southwest of New Orleans" is the key phrase in your objection. You may rest assured that the areas that I have seen with my own eyes and that I might be living in include places and people that are not similar to that area.

I have been to New Orleans several times, and it is rich in culture and general awesomeness. The section that I am talking about is in fact peopled with individuals whose approach to education seems to be 'why bother?' and whose political opinions trot happily along with Rick Santorum's.

I can't say I'll be sorry to leave a state that has Rick Perry at the helm, but the Deep South is just not really my comfort zone. I was born a Yankee and I'll die that way, I suppose.

I live in Louisiana and I live southwest of New Orleans. I couldn't imagine leaving here for long. I am not sure which parts of the state that you have seen with your own eyes, but obviously the state is much bigger than that and is being poorly judged. BTW the Swamp People act the way they do only while being filmed. Those guys make tons of money acting the way the producers ask them to. I mean come on, who really believes reality tv is reality?
